Many computer users are intimidated by the high-tech
approach of many computer experts. But Saginaw has the Computer Answer
Man - Steven Feinberg, a computer support specialist who brings a
down-to-earth approach to the computer world.
Feinberg doesn't sell computer hardware or software, he's a
computer consultant. He provides a wide variety of services centered around
the desk top computer. He emphasizes the "keep it simple"
solutions.
Feinberg's services include personalized installation of
computer hardware and software-because they may not initially work the way
you want them to work. But he's not just a repair man.
His specialty is training the computer novice. "You
can't ask a dumb question," in Feinberg's opinion.
He brings patience and 10 years of experience to his
teaching of computer operations. Feinberg has taught classes at Syracuse
University, New York; Onondaga Community College, New York; Saginaw Valley
State (before it became a university) and Delta College.
He introduces learners to more comprehensive views of how
the computer operates. "I've always approached computers like a
kid - willing to play - and that's how you learn," Feinberg explained.
When asked what was the most common mistake people made when
buying a computer, Feinberg said, "They listened to the sales
people." Sales people have a financial interest. "Generally
speaking, you get what you pay for-but it pays to shop around," he
added.
Feinberg stated, "As a result of computers appearing in
appliance stores and discount houses, IBM compatible computers are appearing
in more places than ever before. Unfortunately, follow up assistance is
sorely lacking. Even computer retail stores that specialize in the sale and
repair service of computers will often have less than glorious follow up
assistance."
This is where the Computer Answer Man can help. He
concentrates on "keep it simple solutions," and offers his
services at a low cost.
Feinberg calls himself the "blue collar genius who
hates wearing a tie and jacket - tie and jacket are extra."
