About Me...

Steve's BIO:

I first used a "desktop" computer in a high school math class in the late 60's.  I attended Syracuse University and received a degree in Psychology.  I am a MENSA member.  I revived my interest in computers with the purchase of an Apple ll plus while taking a Fortran course at Syracuse University.  I also renewed my interest in psychology with seminars in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and OTCC (Other-Than-Concious-Communications).  I saw the cross-over applications and applied them (see scrapbook excerpts).  I first started tinkering with my Apple II plus, then later with a Heathkit computer that was an IBM clone.  Tinkering was natural for me as my father was a TV repairman in the 50's and had me help with all the household electronic repair jobs in the 60's.

Teaching:

1989-1995 Delta College. At Delta College's request in 1987, I invented and taught their first non-credit computer class "Computer Friendly."  I later added two more courses and a free seminar.

1982-1985 Onondaga Community College and Syracuse University. In 1982, Onondaga Community College, near Syracuse, New York, asked me to create a non-credit computer class. Months later, I also started a non-credit class at Syracuse University.  I left Syracuse for Saginaw in 1985.

Media:

Television: Appeared on "Newsmaker" with Norma Hall in 1998 and "Take Five!" with Dick Fabian in 1992.

Radio: Interviewed by Art Lewis on WSGW several times in early 90's.  After the interview, I answered listener's phone in questions live.

Press: Both Syracuse newspapers wrote articles about me.  Saginaw press also took notice.  See scrapbook excerpts.

Column: I wrote the "Computer Answer Man" column for "The Township Times" 1991-1993.  See scapbook excerpts.

Special Studies:

1980-1990's I started attending NLP seminars, then later added OTCC studies.  Three of the scrapbook excerpts were inspired by my studies in NLP and OTCC.

1987 conducted videotaped interviews at Dow Corning to discover the real differences between those that used computers well and those that didn't. Dow Corning interviews were based on my ongoing studies in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and OTCC ( Other-Than-Conscious Communications).

Special Projects:

1983: At the request of experts in learning disabilities, I started working with learning disabled individuals.  Experts were interested as a result of my degree in psychology and my dual interests in NLP and computers.  See scrapbook excerpts.

1984: At the request of Hutchings Psychiatric center, I invented and implemented a computer game session for "chronic adult outpatients" (their phrase).  See scrapbook excerpts.
